15 Things I Learned While Making the Calendar of the Presidents
Fresh on the heels of the Historical Anniversaries Calendar, I present to you the Everything Is History 2011 Presidential Calendar. This calendar is full of historical facts, and over 50 pictures related to the President of the United States, including each president's portrait on their birthday. Check out the calendar preview below, then scroll on down for a list of things I learned about the presidents while creating this calendar.
- Gerald Ford's real name was Leslie Lynch King, Jr. His parents divorced when he was 5 months old. His mother remarried when he was 3 years old, and although Ford was never legally adopted, he took his stepfather's name, which he had legally changed at the age of 22. This really must have burned his biological father, who died when Ford was 27.
- John F. Kennedy was younger than 4 of the presidents that followed him.
- Warren Harding and James Polk are the only presidents that share a birthday (November 2nd).
- John Quincy Adams was the first president to sport facial hair in his official portrait.
- No president has worn facial hair in his official portrait since William Howard Taft.
