Michael Phelps Smokes Pot, EiH asks “Who Cares”?

By Tamahome Jenkins · February 5, 2009

So, unless you haven’t been paying attention, pictures of Michael Phelps smoking marijuana out of a water bong recently surfaced, drawing general condemnation from the mouthpieces of the Mainstream Media. One has to wonder, though, considering the dude is quite possibly one of the greatest athletes of all time (he does have 14 Olympic Gold Medals, and a Silver for good measure), maybe pot is not so lethal as everyone is making it out to be. In my honest opinion, if I was Michael Phelps, I’d say “screw Kellogg’s,” who dropped their endorsement deal with him and start searching out NORML or High Times. I mean honestly, if ever there was an argument for the legalization of mary jane, this is it. Besides, so many athletes get caught with pot, one has to wonder why anybody still thinks this stuff is so much worse for you than alcohol or tobacco. What do you, the reader, think about this fiasco?

BTW, USA Swimming has banned Phelps from the sport for 3 months.

i think he’s silly for allowing pictures to be taken.

  2. Sharyn says:

If he can still swim & get all those gold medals (& a silver) after hittin’ the bong, more power to him! Leave him alone, he if has any sense he’ll soon figure out he doesn’t need the pot nor the media…

I just think he should have toked up before appearing on Saturday Night Live … he probably would have been a lot more funny.

  4. Thomas says:

They should have included that in his Entourage appearance. Would have been much more interesting than a bump while crossing the street.
