American Policy Towards Iran: Have We Been Doing it Wrong?

By Tamahome Jenkins · June 15, 2009

Official State Dept. Map of IranThe situation in regards to Iran is incredibly tense right now, with their dangerously provocative rivalry with Israel, the nuclear energy (read: weapons…allegedly) program, and now the possibly that the country’s latest presidential election may have been rigged. At the center of it all has been the Islamic republic’s relationship with with the United States, who has actively played Iran’s antagonist in regards to the former two situations outlined above. But what of the American response to the election result, which has come across as an unofficial denouncement from veep Joe Biden? Should the U.S. consider even more stringent sanctions against the country, or possibly even consider *gasp* a military response? Andy Martin, executive editor of ContrarianCommentary.com begs to disagree, and as a matter fact, believes that all foreign policy towards Iran should be retooled. The following is a fascinating read, especially considering it flies in the face of every action the U.S. has taken towards Iran in the last 30 years.
