50 Years of 50 States: The Grand Finale
By
It’s been a remarkable journey, even though we’re pulling into the station a little late. But it’s not the destination, it’s the journey, right? Along the way, we’ve found out that Ohio was actually the 47th state, the first opera performed in America was in Charleston, South Carolina, and that there is an association that exists solely to judge the flags of the states and provinces in North America (the North American Vexillological Association). It has been an amazing project, one that I have enjoyed immensely, and I hope you have, too. And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for: the final question. This one is for all the marbles, and everyone can participate, even previous winners. So, here it is:
What is the significance of the order in which I posted these states?
First one to get this one right wins a $50 gift card to Amazon.com! Simply submit your answer in the comments section, and if you’re the first to get it right, you win! You’ve got until noon on Thursday (9/10) to submit your answer. Good luck!

From sea to shining sea.
No answers yet? Hmmm…(From here to there from there to here funny things are everywhere!)
Animaniacs – 50 States and Capitals cartoon song.
Good guess, but no. You're welcome to keep trying, tho! ^_^
In alphabetical order according to state bird?
In alphabetical order according to state flower? (now, I'm just guessing!)
Out of a hat?
Seating in the Senate?
Seating in the House of Representatives?
OK, last guess, I promise…In order on the Monopoly board (US States version)?
LMAO! Seriously, I just lol'd. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but no on all accounts.
something to do with state mottos?
Just a little too competitive. Thanks for the contest. It was fun!
or the order in which you have visited all of the states
No prob. Considering the reception, if I can afford it, I might start doing this monthly.

Two good guesses, but no. It is an order which is relevant to everybody, not just me.

Haha – I actually went through all six pages and typed them out myself this morning. This is a good brain buster – been working on it all day. It's funny because through this whole thing I've been wondering why you chose this specific order. Good question!!
Is is possibly a list of the least populous states to the most populous states?
Or possibly, the lower electoral college votes to the greater electoral college votes?
States in order of when they received status under the national parks system?
No, remember, that Delaware has no national parks, so they would have either been first or last.
in order of shortest (Wyoming and Willis tower) to Tallest buildings (Illinois, Sears tower)
Whoops I meant Willis tower in Illinois and The white hall in wyoming
I was so excited that I finally found it I mistyped a bit
the order is the shortest tallest buildings in a state to the tallest tallest buildings in a state. I keep looking at my response and think that it doesn't seem clear.
We have a winner!!!
Good question steve. At first, I thought that maybe Audra or Carly or Phoebe helped pick the order, but looks like Nick found the common link. Kudos to him. Had a good time playing and actually learned a thing or two. Thanks for making history fun. (PS and why aren't you a history teacher????)
Glad you learned something! Stick around, there's more where that came from. P.S. I'm not a history teacher because there's no corporal punishment in schools.
Or capital punishment …
Just wondering if I won or not seeing as there has been no announcement? Not to be pushy or anything
Sorry about that. I thought that I had responded to your answer, but I don't see…weird. Yes, you won, and there is a post congratulating you, too
