Great Moments in Presidential Buffoonery (VIDEO)
Gerald Ford Nixon's successor is known for being the only person to become Vice President then President without being elected for either office. However, people might also remember Ford as an idiot because of Chevy Chase's impressions on SNL during the 1976 campaign. Some people still believe that Chase unfairly lampooned Ford, but here's an actual video of Ford falling down the stairs, then up the stairs. Gotta love his recovery:
Ronald Reagan The Great Communicator was a fan of puns and one-liners, but that would be too easy, and wouldn't count as buffoonery, unless you really loathe the President (or bad jokes). Instead, here's a video from the last day of the 1980 campaign, in which Reagan handles a heckler as only a sexagenarian whose up past his bedtime can:
George H.W. Bush Remember when Barack Obama inappropriately compared his bowling skills to the Special Olympics? He should have compared himself to the 41st President:
Bill Clinton I seriously laugh so hard every time I see this video of former President Clinton struggling to stay awake during a church sermon. To make matters worse, he was obviously an honored guest, as he was sitting to the right of the speaker.
George W. Bush Bush 43 frequently had trouble with words, and there are so many instances of this immortalized on Youtube that it's hard to pick just one video. Seriously, I could probably devote an entire series to all of the bloopers that I found of W. Instead, I'll share this compilation video:
Barack Obama He may be suave and eloquent, but even our current president can fall victim to bodily functions. Check out this video of Obama sneezing on a reporter. At least he wipes off the guys hand...
I know there's more. People love it when authority figures screw up, so please share your favorite presidential blooper reels in the comments.
