[/caption] The folks at Slate have an interesting slideshow essay up on their site that examines the history and future of airport design.  That got me to thinking that maybe there's a cycle to design. The first airports were nothing more than garages next to grassy fields. Then came the glory days of airport design, when the scene was all futuristic and elaborate, and people actually enjoyed being at airports. Now airports are nothing more than "glorified bus stations". Oh well, the future may be bleak, but the past is still interesting.
